摘要: We demonstrate that spatial-temporal co-occurrence helps maximize the benefit to promotes their populations densities. Estimates of the spatial-temporal expansion of the co-occurrence of ants and aphids from May to September were generated using suction-trap sample data collected from a 121-point grid in a field of corn. The dispersion of both populations was based on positive co-occurrence, and aphids and ants exhibited a dispersed(D)-aggregated(A)-dispersed(D) distribution with an intense co-occurrence of dispersal. These patterns may be explained by either both cooperation or competition for resources. The results show that aphid-ant takes up expansion of spatial-temporal co-occurrence, which ant induces aphid outbreak, and suggest that the co-expansion of aphids and ants should be accounted for when studying competition and cooperation in mutualistic associations. An understanding of the ecology of organisms is required for successful ecological control of pests.
